The military discount provides 10% off on online and in-store purchases and is capped at $400 annually. The discount is available to all U.S. active service members, Veterans and their spouses. It applies to most products, but there are exceptions which include appliances, gift cards, tool rental fees, and goods with manufacturer restrictions.

Who is Eligible for the Military Discount?

The Home Depot military discount applies to all active-duty military, and Veterans who have been discharged from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force.

Active Duty Members: Any member currently serving on active duty in any branch of the U.S. military may use the military discount. The discount applies to full- and part-time personnel carrying out military duties.

Veterans: All Veterans who served for any period in the military, have been discharged with anything other than dishonorable, or who are now retired shall get the Home Depot Veterans discount.

Extension to Immediate Family Members

While, the Home Depot military discount is designed for those actively serving in the military, the program makes specific considerations for families.

Spouses: This category includes the spouses of eligible active service members and Veterans. This is recognition that spouses to the military sacrifice also—in most instances by engaging in support of the people they love during deployments and relocations. They are required to have their home depot account verified by verifying their spouses military status using the servicemembers’ ID.

The spouses should also provide the dependent name, email address, and date of birth that was used in the registration of home depot account.

For other family members including dependent parents and children, they no longer enjoy the discounts.

How to Register for the Home Depot Military Discount

This is how to get the military discount and how their registration process works:

Gather necessary documentation

In the Home Depot military discount registration process you’ll be required to upload documents for verification of your military status. You can use the following documents to verify your status:

  • Military ID: If you’re on active duty, please get your CAC ready to verify your identity.
  • DD Form 214: As a Veteran you can provide the DD Form 214 with a Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.
  • VA Health Care Card (VHIC): This card is issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs. It outlines your enrollment status within VA health care. This only applies to those who are enrolled in medical programs of the VA.
  • Veteran ID Card (VIC): If you are not enrolled with the VA for benefits you can use your VIC provided by the VA to identify yourself. If you do not have one yet, you can simply ask the VA to issue you one – all you need for that is your SSN, a copy of your DD214 and a valid government-issued ID + a photo of yourself from the shoulders up.
  • Driver’s License with Veteran Designation: Some states provide the Veteran designation on their driver’s licenses. If your state gives any such designation in its license, you may then use the same to prove your Veteran status.

Log in to Home Depot and register for the military discount

  • Visit the Home Depot at homedepot.com/military/discount or open the Home Depot mobile app.
  • Log into your existing account or create a new account.
  • If you are creating a new account: enter your name, email address, and a strong password. You may go ahead and fill in the other fields.
  • Go to the Military Discount page via the menu if you use the app or created a new account.
  • Select “Verify Military Status” and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be asked to “Register Now” via SheerID.
  • That’s almost it.

Get a Confirmation

After completing the review and verification of your documents, you will receive an email or notification in the Home Depot account confirming that you are approved. The military discount will turn on in your account. The discount is now ready for redemption while shopping online and in-store.

Applying your Home Depot Military Discount

While making a purchase in-store you need to show your Home Depot Virtual ID from The Home Depot App during checkout. To use your military discount online just log into your account when making any online purchases, and the discount should automatically apply to all eligible items.
